Liger vs. Polar Bear

A liger is a huge cat. In fact currently the liger is the biggest cat in the world. Due to its cross breeding it is not classified as species. But these ligers have gain a lot of popularity because of their massive size and weight. Liger weighs around the 1200 pounds.

On the other hand polar bear is a giant bear as well. Polar bears are also one of the nature's most fearsome predators. A polar bear can weigh around 1500 pounds in weight. This gives a weight advantage to polar bear of about 300 Kg over the ligers.

However, in another article about the Nook the liger, the liger had a weight of about 1400 pounds before its death. This might make it very much near to the polar bear in terms of its weight. Therefore, with the difference of 100 pounds it might well be great match in between the two predators. However, on the other hand, even a 400 pound Siberian tigers have been believed to kill the brown bears which almost weigh the same as polar bears.

According to Dr. Antle who is a liger expert, ligers are capable of growing up to 1600 pounds if they are fed with a lot of meat. He believes the same about his own liger as well. But this will make the ligers obese and they will barely walk and will sit all the day long. A liger in Wisconsin weighed about 1600 pounds which makes it exactly the same size as that of the polar bears.
